NASA launches stadium-sized balloon from NZ’s South Island

The super-pressure balloon lifted off from Wānaka Airport and will now spend 100 days or more flying around the Southern Hemisphere’s mid-latitudes, where it will measure neutral wind in the upper atmosphere.

CASA tips air taxis to be up and running by 2030

In its newly-released RPAS and AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap, the aviation safety regulator said it expects the first commercial AAM operations, including “air taxi” passenger transport in urban areas, to be up and running between 2027 and 2029.

Batik Air goes year-round from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur

The service will operate four times per week on a 377-seat A330-300, including 12 business class and 365 economy seats. Batik Air, part of the Lion Air group, already operates a regular service from Melbourne to Denpasar.

The BETA ALIA CX300, currently registered N401NZ, took off from Tauranga Airport on Friday morning for its inaugural test flight. It will be based at Hamilton, then move to Wellington in December for another two months.
