On 13 March 2024, the Department of Defense announced that the McDonnell Douglas F-35 Lightning II, the newest fighter aircraft ordered by three different branches of the United States Air Force, was approved for Full Rate Production (FRP). The official authorization came from the Defense Acquisition Board, which signed an Acquisition Decision Memorandum this morning.
