November 2023 marked the 26th anniversary of a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340 that experienced a landing gear malfunction during approach; the aircraft landed without fully deploying one set of its main landing gear. Pilots made a heroic attempt that brought the aircraft down with no serious injuries to any occupants.
