Boeing737 MAX took to the skies, with its first test flight taking place in January 2016. The narrowbody entered service in May 2017, although, within two years, the type would be grounded for 20 months following two crashes that bore striking parallels to one another. By the time it reentered service, COVID-19 had brought aviation to a standstill.
