FAA Claims Starlink Under Evaluation For Improving Weather Reliability

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is exploring the potential of using the SpaceX Starlink satellite system to improve weather information reliability for commercial flights, especially in remote regions like Alaska, where ground-based weather systems are sparse and unreliable. In a statement, an FAA spokesperson confirmed that the organization has been testing Starlink’s capabilities at three different sites, one in Atlantic City and two at locations in Alaska which were described as non-safety-critical.
