The Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 are two widebody aircraft used on many of the world’s longest nonstop routes. But which aircraft are used more on the world’s ultra-long routes? It turns out that in 2025, there will be more Boeing 787 ultra-long-haul flights longer than 9,000 miles than A350, although the Boeing 787 routes all make stopovers along the way. The Airbus A350-900ULR is a rare variant and has the distinction of being the world’s longest-range commercial aircraft. The A350 can carry more passengers than the Boeing 787 in any configuration and its fuselage is an extra five inches wider. Here is a comparison of the two aircraft types on ultra-long-haul routes.
