Bombardier has grown to become one of the most prominent business jet manufacturers in the world. The company was first formed in 1989 as a business segment of the industrial conglomerate Bombardier. The new business segment, which became known as Bombardier Aviation, included several other companies that were recently acquired. This includes Canadair, Learjet, Short Brothers, and, later, de Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
