Why India Blocked Chinese Flights For Five Years

India and China have just agreed to restart flights between the two countries after India banned them for almost five years. This may come as a suprise to many as the ceasation of flights between the two countries was not widely reported. As of January 28th, its unclear exactly when the flights will resume and whether they will be limited a full restoration of flights. Reuters reported, “Following a meeting on Monday in Beijing between India’s top diplomat Vikram Misri and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, India’s foreign ministry said that both sides would negotiate a framework on the flights’ resumption at an ‘early date.‘”
