Republic Airways is one of the multiple different regional carriers that exist in the United States today, and it operates flights for other scheduled passenger airlines. Carriers like Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and United Airlines, all of which have regional subsidiaries of their own, will contract flight operations out to Republic Airways. As a result, passengers who fly with United Express, Delta Connection, or American Eagle may not even be aware of it, but they could very well be traveling on a flight operated by Republic Airways.

On the first day of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hearings related to the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 door plug blowout, Boeings representatives said that the company would redesign the door plug to prevent another occurrence from ever taking place.Elizabeth Lund, the senior vice president of Quality of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said during the hearing that her company was designing changes to the mid-exit door plug, changes which the plane maker aimed to introduce soon.
