For those who travel primarily through large airports in developed areas, it can be easy to overlook the absolutely massive scale of regional flight operations in the United States. The three large legacy carriers, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines, all maintain regional subsidiaries that fly to hundreds of small airports across the nation, a level of service to small and remote destinations that is mostly unheard of outside the nation.
