After a horde of mishaps with animals placed in their cargo in 2018, United Airlines put out a decree that a pet animal such as a dog could only travel in the cabin of this Chicago-based carrier. United is not known to be the most pet-friendly carrier, nor has it lifted the restrictions it placed on its PetSafe program. But with one of its pilots taking an abandoned puppy in its care and the subsequent easing of some of the airlines’ strict rules concerning pet travel, United Airlines is becoming a lot more dog-friendly.
