One of the most elite squadrons in the United States Navy, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Seven One (HSM-71) is a helicopter squadron of the United States Navy which is based out of Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California. The elite unit, which has been nicknamed the “Raptors,” is a subunit of Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9), a West Coast-based strike group flagged by the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN)-92 Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
