Vietnam starts blocking 2G-only phones ahead of 2G shutdown

The European Commission (EC) revealed it is investigating UAE-based operator group e&’s acquisition of Czech telecoms company PPF Telecom’s assets, due to concerns on how the group may be benefitting from state cash injections, reported Reuters.

Another attempt to manage virtual private network (VPN) use is under way in Pakistan, where the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has extended a deadline for unregistered VPN owners to give their details until the end of this month.

Telecel Centrafrique has reportedly been forced by the Central African Republic’s Ministry of Finance and Budget to close its offices over US$4.4 million in unpaid taxes.
