Vietnam starts blocking 2G-only phones ahead of 2G shutdown

Vietnam will reportedly begin blocking signals for 2G-only mobile phones next month as part of its broader plan to fully phase out 2G service later this year.

The widely reported sale by international service provider Telefonica of its Argentinian division to Telecom Argentina for US$1.245 billion, a deal agreed in February, is now on hold, apparently by order of Argentina’s government.
