The University of Notre Dame is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States and the world. The private Catholic research university was first established in November 1842, over 182 years ago. The South Bend, Indiana-based university has grown into a college with seven different schools, including the College of Science, the Notre Dame Law School, the School of Architecture, the College of Engineering, the Mendoza College of Business, and the Mendoza College of Business, among others. It is also classified as an R1: Doctoral University, which signifies that the college is involved in very high research activity. Additionally, the University of Notre Dame graduate school includes over 50 different masters and doctoral degrees.
