UK Makes Massive Defense Cuts Including Helicopters & UAVs To Save Around $630 Million

Amid the war in Ukraine, deteriorating security in Europe, and rising European defense budgets, the United Kingdom has taken the decision to scrap a bunch of aging helicopters along with five warships. This is in spite of the fact that the UK has been one of the few countries in NATO to consistently spend 2% of GDP on defense and has said it plans to raise that to 2.5% (although it hasn’t said by when). Meanwhile, the UK has recently reaffirmed its commitment to the sixth-gen Tempest or GCAP fighter program and wants to see more countries join it.
