The six to seven-hour hop across the pond has been one of the most popular International routes from the US. As the journey has primarily been operated by widebody aircraft, narrowbody planes have populated it more recently and are expected to continue to do so indefinitely, thanks to newer planes. In fact, long-haul narrowbody aircraft have also allowed airlines to begin service to new markets that otherwise could not be served. Nonetheless, widebody aircraft continue to dominate flights between the US and the UK.

While these sort of retrospective pieces appear at the END of a calendar year, there was simply SO MUCH aviation news at the time that we decided to cover this topic later. While airlines worldwide have benefited from record passenger numbers and a solid recovery from the disruptions of the pandemic, other airlines have seen major disruptions due to various circumstances – sadly leading to their downfall.
