52 Years Of Deliveries: A Brief History Of Boeing’s Widebody Freighter Portfolio

March 2024 marks the 52nd anniversary of Boeing delivering its first widebody freighter aircraft. On March 10, 1972, a Boeing 747-200 freighter aircraft left the Boeing facility in Everett, Washington, for its delivery flight to the German flag carrier Lufthansa. Over a month later, on April 19, the aircraft operated its first commercial service from Frankfurt (FRA) to New York (JFK) under the Lufthansa Cargo brand.
