How Do Turbofan Engines Differ From Turboprops?

Turbine engines function based on the principles of compression, combustion, and expansion. The engine inlet sucks large amounts of air into multiple compressor stages where the air pressure and temperature increase. The high-temperature compressed air is mixed with fuel and ignited in the combustor. Hot gases expand and transfer energy to the turbines, resulting in thrust.
