The state government hopes the new landing pad will enable faster access for patients arriving by air and support transfers of critically ill patients to and from other health services across the state.
King served in the position during Anthony Albanese’s full first term, and was responsible for the introduction of the aviation green and white papers, which charted a course for the sector until 2050.
The figures, released as part of Airservices’ monthly aviation network overview, come as the sector continues to be affected by cost-of-living issues and a decrease in business travel blamed on the rise of video calling.
