Rail Minister Peter Hendy has today led celebrations of the Great Northern ‘Northern City Line’ becoming the country’s first commuter railway to run without signals at the side of the track.
The Downpatrick and County Down Railway has announced that it has completed repairs to the mechanical interlocking at its Bundoran Junction signal cabin, which sustained damage in the serious flooding two years ago in 2023.
A new approach, which looks at the way that railways carry out crucial maintenance and inspections across Kent, is being expanded this year to make it more efficient.
