How Many Aircraft Does China’s COMAC Have On Order?

The Chinese manufacturer has received a substantial number of orders so far for its C909 and C919 aircraft.

COMAC aims to increase production capacity for the C919.

As the C919 gains a solid foothold in China, COMAC is aiming to expand into the Southeast Asian market.

GalopAir, the only airline outside of China to have ordered the COMAC C919, launched its operations with a China Southern Airlines aircraft.

COMAC has already secured a preliminary agreement from Brunei-based GallopAir in September 2023.

While the C919 airframe is Chinese-built, the engines and much of its avionics and flight control systems are Western-built.

The COMAC C919 is built with Chinese-Western joint ventures and would likely be vulnerable to hypothetical US sanctions.

The C919 is now flying, but it will be some time before it becomes significant in major airline fleets.
