Anyone who has flown on an airplane or been around one would recognize the rumbling sound of jet engines, particularly when a full takeoff thrust is applied. As the fan speed increases, high-pitched noise is generated due to air velocity as it is pulled into the engine and past the blades. But how fast do those giant fans revolve?
