New or returning routes are announced daily, but exceedingly few will be served by a quadjet – and even fewer by the increasingly rare A340. After all, they are far from fuel-efficient, although this is offset by having very low ownership costs. SWISS is to introduce Zurich to Seoul using the A340-300. The route last saw the carrier – or at least its predecessor, Swissair – in 1998 when MD-11 was deployed.
