Paul H. Smith, Ph.D., is a retired U.S. Army Major, intelligence officer and Desert Storm veteran.
In 1983 he was recruited into the Army’s remote viewing program at Fort Meade, Maryland, later known as Star Gate. He served there from September 1983 to August 1990.
He was one of five Star Gate personnel trained directly by Ingo Swann and Dr. Harold Puthoff at SRI International. He is credited with over a thousand training and operational remote viewing sessions, wrote the program’s official manual on Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV), and taught CRV to new military remote viewers.
In 1997 he founded Remote Viewing Instructional Services, Inc., where he is president and chief instructor. He is a founding director and two time past president of the International Remote Viewing Association. He has taught CRV since 1984, making him the longest serving CRV instructor still active.
He is the author of Reading the Enemy’s Mind: Inside Star Gate (Tor/Forge, 2005), a Reader’s Digest Editor’s Choice selection, and The Essential Guide to Remote Viewing.
