Gaining additional air rights on international routes can be a long and drawn-out process, particularly if there are objections or competing airlines bidding for more seats on a route. Fortunately, that has not been the case with Virgin Australia’s application for more capacity between Australia and Vanuatu, which received the regulatory green light just 18 days after it was lodged.
