KiwiRail opens Sims siding for Glenbrook scrap flows

Growing biomass imports from Ukraine and the Baltic states are increasing demand for rail logistics in Poland. Laude is using high-capacity containers to move the low-density cargo across different rail gauges.

PKP Cargo, currently in restructuring, has signed agreements with PGE GiEK to move 1.715m tonnes of coal, limestone and limestone powder to three power plant locations.

The trial ran from 29 June to 13 July 2026 and tested a regional freight service covering the full supply chain from loading to delivery.
