Rosneft Deutschland to get 450 GATX tank wagons

GATX will supply 450 iso tank wagons to Rosneft Deutschland, a major oil company formerly owned by Russia and now under the control of the German government. They will be delivered in three batches between September 2026 and the second quarter of 2027, GATX said.
“The fleet will primarily be used to transport gasoline, diesel, and other light petroleum products from PCK, MiRO, and Bayernoil to customer terminals in Germany and Europe”, the wagon lessor specified. Rosneft Deutschland owns shares in all three companies – 54.17%, 24% and 25% respectively.

The new type 1698 tank wagons are being built by Duro Dakovic, Tatravagonka, and WSO, which is a subsidiary of GATX based in Poland. They will begin their operational lives at the PCK refinery in Schwedt, near the border with Poland in the north. “With this fleet expansion, the company (Rosneft Deutschland) will become one of GATX Rail Europe’s largest customers”, GATX pointed out.

The oil giant was moved under the control of the Bundesnetzagentur (Germany’s Federal Network Agency) in September 2022 as a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. With a market share of between 12% and 14%, Rosneft Deutschland is the third largest petroleum refining company in the country, behind Shell Deutschland and Klesch Group.
