Green Cargo profits skyrocket in Q2

Swedish state-owned operator Green Cargo recorded a sharp increase in profitability during the second quarter of 2026. “Efficiency has improved, we have won key contracts, and we have taken further steps toward long-term profitable growth”, said the company’s CEO Henrik Dahlin.
Operating profit rose from SEK 44 million to SEK 144 million (from €3.9 million to €13 million). Organic operating profit went from being SEK 6 million (over €500,000) in the negative to SEK 64 million (€5.7 million). Finally, profit after tax amounted to SEK 122 million (€11 million), up from SEK 13 million (€1.1 million), according to Green Cargo.

Net sales also slightly improved, from SEK 1,007 million to SEK 1,113 million (€91.1 million to €100.7 million).

New contracts drive growth

Much of the financial boost comes from a number of new contracts Green Cargo signed over Q2 for a total of SEK 480 million (€43.4 million). These include a deal to operate a terminal near Stockholm and a multi-year agreement with ScandFibre. Moreover, the company was selected by Stegra (formerly known as H2 Green Steel) to move its volumes by rail across Sweden.
