SpaceX’s LEO satellite operator Starlink officially launched its service in Indonesia on Sunday, which among other things will be used to bolster healthcare and education services in remote areas under a new agreement.
Airtel Africa announced on Monday it has signed a deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s LEO satellite internet services to customers in all 14 African countries where Airtel operates – at least once Starlink has licences to operate in them.
SpaceX’s satellite internet unit Starlink is reportedly in talks with operators in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to expand coverage to remote and underserved areas.
Recent satellite internet news coming out of Latin America and India is a reminder that Starlink isn’t having things entirely its own way when it comes to satellite internet.
