The Stephenville UFO incident is one of the most widely discussed mass UFO sightings in modern U.S. history. It occurred on January 8, 2008, in and around Stephenville, Texas, approximately 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

One of the best-known witnesses was Steve Allen, a private pilot with decades of flying experience. He estimated the object was roughly half a mile wide and said it accelerated so rapidly that he believed it exceeded the capabilities of known aircraft.
A recurring element in many witness accounts was the appearance of F-16 fighter jets, which some believed were pursuing the object.
Officials suggested that reflections from conventional aircraft under certain atmospheric conditions may have contributed to the witnesses reports but many witnesses rejected these explanations, arguing they did not match what they observed.
The fact that no official investigation took place has led many to question why, suggesting to some that the encounter may have been deliberately kept secret, whether it involved a classified man-made aircraft or a genuine extraterrestrial craft.
