East Africa internet disrupted again by new subsea cable cuts

Internet services across East Africa were reportedly disrupted on Sunday due to yet more subsea cable faults, this time on the Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy) and the Seacom cable.

AzerTelecom and Kazakhtelecom said they have awarded a supervision services contract to subsea cable project management firm Pioneer Consulting to oversee construction of the Trans-Caspian Submarine Cable System connecting Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Trans Pacific Networks (TPN) said on Tuesday it has struck a deal with Ciena to deploy its optical solutions on the Echo and Tabua cable systems connecting the US to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.
