Cairo Monorail starts passenger service

The level crossing accident in Buggenhout has claimed at least four lives, including two children.

The contract, valued at EUR 158m, covers 12 bi-mode and 10 electric multiple units for regional services.

The first passenger trial operations are planned after vehicle approval, final acceptance and delivery, with regular operation on the first routes planned for October 2026.
