It was October 29th, 1960. The California Polytechnic State University Football Team or the Cal Poly Mustangs were traveling to a game with Bowling Green State University. They had chartered a Curtiss C-46 operated by Arctic Pacific. The flight had been chartered to take the team from Santa Maria in California to Toledo, Ohio and then return to San Luis Obispo in California. There were 45 passengers and three crew onboard.
