Nationals MP Colin Boyce Challenges Leader David Littleproud After Coalition Split

Boyce, the member for Flynn, plans to move a spill motion against David Littleproud when MPs return to Canberra next week, blaming leadership decisions for alienating supporters and risking ‘political suicide’ without reuniting with the Liberals.

The challenge follows the Nationals’ January 22 split over Labor’s hate speech laws, triggered by a deadly attack at Sydney’s Bondi Jewish festival, which saw three Nationals senators vote against the bill and the frontbench resign from shadow ministry roles.

While Boyce pushes for change amid rising One Nation support in polls, colleagues like Michael McCormack and Matt Canavan back Littleproud, who welcomes debate and defends the principled stand on free speech.
