The commercial aviation world changed when Airbus announced the Airbus A380 program in 2000. After successfully developing the largest-ever double-deck passenger jet, the European planemaker celebrated its first flight in 2005. As a direct challenger to the Boeing 747 program, several airlines showed their interest in the A380 as they looked for a modern replacement that could accommodate numerous passengers. Singapore Airlines, one of the aircrafts primary operators, became the launch customer of the type in 2007.
