Omantel upgrades mobile network to 5G SA

Malaysian operator U Mobile has won the rights to implement Malaysia’s second 5G network to compete with original 5G operator Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), leaving rival contenders CelcomDigi and Maxis to rethink their 5G plans.

Cloud-native network infrastructure vendor Mavenir announced on Friday it is in the advanced commercial phase of an Open RAN network pilot deployment for Indian telco Vodafone Idea (Vi) that will support its planned 5G rollout.

Telecom Namibia said on Monday it has signed a five-year transformative partnership with Huawei Technologies to modernise and expand coverage of its mobile network, to include 5G.
