Update – We have received a further update from the Indigo team, advising of the repair progress, see below.
Fault #1 – (Indonesian Waters, ~37km south of R1105) has been completed with confirmation received from the Indigo NOC just now.
Fault #2 – Segment 1B (Australian Waters, ~1.2km west of Perth BMH)
• Shunt fault and partial fibre break in shallow waters.
• Occurred 17 Dec 2025 @ 14:04 UTC.
• Diver survey completed; findings under review to finalise repair planning.
• Peter Faber repair vessel is in Perth and in the area, supporting repair mobilisation.
• Spares transfer and loading in progress (ETA Perth: late-Jan 2026).
• Final Splice and Bight Deployment ETC: early-mid Feb 2026.
Fault #3 – Segment 1A (Indonesian Waters, ~42km south of R1109)
• Shunt fault only; no fibre break detected.
• Occurred 02 Jan 2026 @ 02:40 UTC.
• Repair operation permits and applications in progress.
• Pending repair vessel availability.
• Final splice and bight deployment ETC: 06 Apr 2026.

Update – We have received a further update within the last half hour from the Indigo team, outlining the tentative repair schedule:
– 5th December 2025: Permitting process initiated with Indonesian authorities
– 19th January 2026: Ship Mobilisation from Batam, Indonesia
– 23rd – 30th January 2026: Cable repair window
– 30th January 2026: Scheduled repair completion

Identified – The Indigo-West submarine cable system went down at 2025-12-03 08:42:14.512953 UTC roughly ~44 hours ago.
We have now been provided with information we can disclose publicly.
– OTDR testing indicates that the fault is located between two subsea repeaters, approximately 725 km from Singapore.
– Callout notification to the marine vessel repair company has been issued and a vessel is being organised to conduct the repair. The repair vessel is currently available for approximately mid-January 2026.
– Marine vessel repair company will also begin the permitting application process with the Indonesian authorities which is expected to take approximately 45 days. This would make the repair permit approval ETA ~19th January.
Traffic has automatically rerouted via alternate paths. Customers in Australia will experience higher latency when accessing Southeast Asia or Europe, and vice-versa.
