US forces Chinese operators to switch off

The parent companies of Indonesian telcos XL Axiata and Smartfren have reportedly asked permission from telecoms regulator KemKominfo to carry out a long-planned merger of the two companies – and seem likely to get it.

As 4G delays and subscriber losses continue, it has been reported that the Indian government is looking at ways to improve operational efficiencies in state-owned operator BSNL to enhance its competitiveness.

Malaysian operator Axiata announced it had secured a deal to sell its Myanmar operations and exit the country, which is currently in the midst of a civil war.
