US forces Chinese operators to switch off

Telefonica has taken another step in its strategic withdrawal from Latin America, agreeing to sell its entire stake in its Uruguay operations to Millicom for US$440 million.

The parent companies of Indonesian telcos XL Axiata and Smartfren have reportedly asked permission from telecoms regulator KemKominfo to carry out a long-planned merger of the two companies – and seem likely to get it.

Sri Lankan telco Dialog Axiata says it has launched a smart tracking solution for vehicle and fleet monitoring, which also uses its 4G network to power various data-based monitoring features.
