Syria signs first international submarine cable to boost connectivity

Nokia announced on Thursday that it has signed a deal with Cambodian telco CamGSM – a.k.a. Cellcard – to migrate its fibre access network from GPON to XGS-PON, which could boost speeds for its broadband customers as high as 10 Gbps.

Malaysian broadband operator Time dotCom announed on Tuesday that it has started upgrading its existing Time Fibre Home customers with a permanent speed boost of at least 200 Mbps that it says will deliver a better online experience.

Qatar-based Ooredoo Group announced on Thursday it has signed an agreement with Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) to build a new subsea cable connecting seven countries in the Gulf region.
