This morning, aBoeing 747-400F cargo aircraft skidded off the runway and into the adjacent sea while landing at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). The widebody quadjet had flown in from Dubai International Airport (DXB), and was operated by Turkish carrier Air ATC on behalf ofEmirates.

Star Alliance member Thai Airways has had quite the roller-coaster ride through the pandemic. Pre-pandemic, the airline operated the Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A380.Not related to the pandemic, but the airline had also operated the Airbus A340-500 AND -600 throughout the 2010s. Yes, the airline today is very different from what it was 10 years ago!
