Has the industry Open RAN away from the ecosystem?

Tonga now has 5G after the country’s two main mobile operators – state-owned incumbent Tonga Communications Corporation (TCC) and Digicel Tonga commercially launched their respective 5G networks within a week of each other.

Brazilian neutral network and digital infrastructure company V.tal, recently in the news thanks to its interest in troubled operator Oi Brasil’s fibre broadband base, is now making headlines through an indoor 5G deal for Brazilian shopping centres.

During MWC Barcelona 2025, the World Broadband Association (WBBA) hosted an industry summit themed “Smarter Broadband: Investment. Innovation. Intelligence.”
