Malaysia’s EBB taps Nokia to upgrade Open DC’s AI data centres

Qatar-based telecoms player Ooredoo Group announced on Sunday that it has signed a deal to become an Nvidia Cloud Partner (NCP) to enable development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the MENA region.

PLDT chairman and CEO Manuel Pangilinan said a deal is on the boil for a 49% stake in the operator group’s data centre business, despite negotiations with Japan-based Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) collapsing.

Bharti Airtel’s data centre arm Nxtra says it is deploying AI in its data centres to improve operations and power consumption, and also claims to be the first data centre operator in India to do so.
