Asia Pacific data centre operator Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has secured a US$1.2 billion investment from private equity firm Stonepeak to accelerate its regional expansion.
With Vietnam’s rules on storing data locally causing a surge in demand, local data centre operators are apparently unable to cope. Thus Vietnam has decided that foreign investors can now own data centres in the country.
Digital infrastructure company Equinix is claiming that its third data centre in Rio de Janeiro state, RJ3, is the largest investment ever made by the sector in the Brazilian state. It is said to have an initial budget of US$94 million.
UAE-based Edgnex Data Centres by DAMAC says it has formed a joint venture with Thai ISP Proen Corp to invest over THB32 billion baht (US$962 million) in several data centre development projects in Thailand.
