Listen to the RailFreight.com Podcast!

RailFreight.com has officially stepped into the world of audio journalism with the launch of the RF Podcast, a new format to increase engagement with our audience. The first episode just went out, with a focus on some of the most important policies for European rail freight.
The podcast is available on Spotify, and there will initially be one episode per month. In each one, our editors will dive deep into a topic, making it more accessible and understandable to a wider public. The RF Podcast will complement the written content found on RailFreight.com with more comprehensive analysis and opinions. Listen to the first episode here, and don’t forget to follow our channel!

Greening Freight Package and TSIs

In this episode, the guys break down the latest developments concerning the Greening Freight Package (GFP) and the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs). In an exclusive interview, the rapporteur of the Combined Transport Directive (one of the GFP pillars) Flavio Tosi MEP shared some unfortunate news. The industry has been asking to consider this directive together with the Weights and Dimensions one, but the political will in Brussels does not seem to be there.

Another hot topic highlighted during the podcast concerned TSIs. The new head of the EU Agency for Railways Oana Gherghinescu opened up to the possibility of freezing TSIs, as the continuous changes are creating some turmoil within the industry. Could such an approach alleviate the burden and help companies plan their investments better? How much should technological progress matter in a traditionally slow-paced sector? This and more was discussed in the first episode of the RF Podcast.

The first chapter of a new book

“We’re here to break the wall between static articles and dynamic conversation. If we can make the sector’s problems more understandable and its wins more visible, we’ll have done our job”, said Nikos Papatolios, editor in chief of RailFreight.com. He will be accompanied through the podcast by lead editors Marco Raimondi and Dennis van der Laan. Moreover, the podcast wants to become an interactive space where members of the rail freight community are encouraged to share their views and take part in the debates.
