Both the IAE V2500 and CFM56 families of engines are some of the most successful turbofans. While these engines were produced by alliances of engine-making companies, behind the IAE V2500 stands Pratt & Whitney, while its rival, GE Aerospace (formerly General Electric), is behind the CFM56. These are the two great engine-makers of the United States.
