The United States Air Force is expecting to spend $24 billion on the Next Generation Air Dominance fighter jet (NGAD). While it was originally a joint program with the US Navy, the US Navy is now pursuing its own sixth-generation fighter. The Navy's fighter is also (confusingly) called NGAD, but it will be referred to here as the F/A XX Program.
