Great to see The Southerner back in Dunedin for this limited run! Just wish this tourist-focused service was a regular, frequent, and affordable option for everyone. Imagine the possibilities!
The train was canceled as in last 12 months of operation it averaged 8 people per trip.
Even the Hamilton – Auckland train is still needing 10 of millions in subsidy every year. NZ don’t have population to support what’s needed which is high speed rail.
