Emirates has reportedly made its first class award seats even more exclusive by limiting access to its frequent flyers. The Dubai-based airline has blocked non-elite members from securing first class awards. This move is part of a broader trend, as Emirates has been steadily tightening access to its most prestigious cabin product, particularly for members of partner programs, in favor of its own Skywards loyalty members.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
