Emirates never had the world’s first commercial Airbus A380, as Singapore Airlines was the launch customer. However, Emirates does have many of the oldest (as well as the newest) examples. The A380 is not an old aircraft, so the oldest example is not ‘old’ by the standards of many airliners.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
