According to the Australian Government, the country has seven airports designated as major international airports – Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney (with many more secondary and limited international airports). Of these, five serve the five largest cities of Australia, while two (Cairns and Darwin) are located in smaller, more isolated areas.
